Mukachevo castle “Palanok” – tourism Grand Family Zakarpattia
No one can name the exact date of the first mention of the castle. It is likely that the first wooden fortification was built by the tribes of White Croats. They settled on these lands in the VII century.
It is located on a high hill (68 m) on the southern outskirts of Mukachevo. Over the centuries, the castle buildings were often destroyed and rebuilt. Currently, the three-dimensional structure of the castle is formed by three courtyards. These are the lower, middle and upper castles.
Since 1989, the Mukachevo Historical Museum has been operating in the Palanok Castle. In 2008, a monument to a sword-wielding turulus eagle was unveiled on the castle grounds. The Hungarian national symbol symbolises the fight against invaders. According to the legend, this eagle brought a life-saving sword to Ferenc II Rákóczi.
Wandering the stairs, secret rooms and expositions of the Mukachevo Castle, you will be surprised to find that every stone of the giant building breathes history, behind every door of the castle there is a drama, behind every turn there is a lot of legends.
The legendary Mukachevo Palanok Castle is located 20 km from the Grand Family Zakarpattia apartment complex.
